China Duty Free Group

China Duty Free Group (CDFG) is a monopoly for operation and management of nationwide duty free products as authorized by the Central People's Government and was previous under the custody of China National Tourism Administration. According to the principle of the document of Central People's Government (vide ZBF (1999) No. 1), CDFG unhooked the connection with China National Tourism Administration to become an enterprise under the Central People's Government and is one of the 163 major enterprises defined by the Central People's Government.

CDFG's predecessor, China Duty Free Company was officially established in 1984 upon approval of State Council. With the business being continually expanded, on October 8,1999, upon approval of State Administration of Industry and Commerce, CDFG was officially established. As the core enterprise of CDFG, China Duty Free Company was renamed as China Duty Free Group.

Since the time of starting the sales of duty-free commodities, according to the authorization of the Central People's Government and relevant policy and regulations, CDFG has carried the central and integral management policy of "unity of operation, supplies, retail prices, management regulations" for the nationwide duty-free shops. Consequently, the business has developed rapidly and taken a certain position in the circle of world duty free products. Since 1994, the annual sales volume of CDFG's duty-free shops have broken the record of US$ 200 million and joined Top 20 duty-free product dealers in the world.

Currently, CDFG's duty-free sales are mainly distributed in the duty-free shops at ports, downtown and for foreign diplomacy. The port duty-free shops are normally set up in the custom bonded areas at the airports, sea ports, stations and trains for entry into and exit from China. The downtown duty-free shops and duty-free shops for diplomacy are set up in the specified areas under the custody of the Customs. The supply objects are specified to passengers traveling to other countries by air, sea and train, international seamen and diplomats in China.

Up to now, CDFG has successively established over 150 duty-free shops at over 90 main port cities and boundary regions of 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities under the Central People's Government, including international airport duty-free shops, inflight duty-free shops, railway station duty-free shops, passenger station duty-free shops, duty-free shops for ocean shipping supply, inland port duty-free shops, duty-free shops for diplomats and downtown duty-free shops.
